A Non-Update Update

Well, we dodged a bullet! The first tropical storm missed us, thank God! We did have high winds which grounded our swing stages as per OSHA rules.

1-Last Thursday samples of the 2 possible compounds to be used on the parking deck were put down. It got rained on before it had a chance to dry and cure. It looks like our contractor will need to get the product representative and our engineer back to start over.

2-Friday our contractors tried to close up, tie down and put away what ever they could. The idea was not to lose any materials to the weather and to eliminate as many possible flying objects as possible.

3-Monday was a legal holiday. No work.

4-Tuesday we had wind gusts over the 20 mph limit of OSHA. No work was possible.

5-We had some water leaks on the front of the building. Our contractors have been asked to make the concrete replacement and the closing up of those walls a priority.

6-With all of the lost time, many of the necessary inspections could not be done. Today and Friday they hope to make up for the inspections lost. Work already done must be stopped and inspected before further work is approved.

7-We have made Saturdays available to our contractors if they want to have their men work on weekends. We had asked that they only do quiet work and not in anyone's unit on weekends. We will now allow them to make noise if they need to.

8-In recognition of the fact that parking is tough with the areas blocked off for construction we have allowed parking in areas we ordinarily would not. PLEASE!!!! If you park in an area such as our delivery area near the trash bins or in any other construction area, YOU MUST MOVE YOUR VEHICLE BY 7:30 AM OR YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED. Our trash collector will not wait for us to move vehicles and our contractors can't lose work time because your car is in the way. If your vehicle is towed you will be charged a hefty fee from the towing company. We don't even get any of the fee, so please don't waste your money!

9-Tropical Storm Elsa was a reminder of what we can expect for the next few months. Again, please review my posting on this website of June 5 and prepare for the chance we won't be as lucky with the next storm.

10-On a much lighter note:

My friend's granddaughter was dancing and singing around the house. They asked her why she was so happy. She told them she was excited that Elsa was coming! They had to explain that this was not the Disney Elsa!

Everyone stay safe.

Stan
