Construction and Covid Updates

Hello Aristocrats! FYI-Florida has done a very good job controlling covid. The Governor's State of Emergency expires on Sunday. I would be shocked if it is renewed. The restrictions we have been under are actually from Broward County, but we don't believe they will be renewed either. So............

1-The gym will open on Monday. Monique has cleaned it thoroughly. Besides covid, it hasn't been used in over a year. There will be hand sanitizer for your use. There will also be a spray cleaner and paper towels for you to wipe down the equipment you use. That is something that should be done even without covid.

2-Unless we hear otherwise, and I don't think we will, masks and face coverings will become optional starting Monday. First of all, if you are concerned for yourself, please feel free to continue wearing a mask. We will not be enforcing it. Those of you who are NOT vaccinated, the CDC strongly suggests you continue to protect yourself by wearing a mask. That will be up to your discretion.

And now for Construction:

3-Our engineer and our contractor are discussing which material to use on the second floor of the parking deck. They are discussing which product will work the best, cost us the least and will be available. Many products are currently out of stock.

4-The City of Pompano finally got back to us about the permit for the wet room roof. The roofer will be providing them with additional information.

5-They also finally got back to us regarding the permit for the railings to be replaced by the trash chutes. We were granted that permit and will begin work on that shortly.

6-Our contractor has managed to hire several more workers to add to our job. Last week Pete, Ron and I actually yelled at them. I don't care what they did, but they got us several more workers. Our foreman is satisfied that they are capable and actually have good experience.

7-Stacks 4 and 5 have very few minor issues left. The contractor and engineer are holding off on that for now. The front of the building has areas open. Since we are in rainy season, getting that area closed up with new concrete will take precedence.

8-Stack 6 is just about 2 weeks from beginning its final inspections.

9-Stack 7 has about 1/3 of the balconies with concrete poured. Work was slow since concrete cannot be poured in the rain. The bedroom windows of stack 7 should start next week.

10-Stack 8 balconies are waiting for engineer approval for concrete pouring to begin. Balcony doors on this stack should begin in about 2 weeks. They will only do 3 at a time so they can be taken out, repaired and then replaced as quickly as possible. The contractor is concerned about rain.

11-Every now and then this job plays can you top this. On the front of the building we have concrete squares that are decorations that double as a way to break up wind hitting the front of the building. The first two floors have them attached with rebar as they should be. From 3 up they are attached with rusted hooks! There is about 5,000 pounds of concrete that was ready to fall on our heads! Needless to say, it will be repaired properly and safely. Also needless to say don't walk through the construction areas anywhere, but especially the front of the building!

Can someone say what are the minor issues with stack 4 and 5 and which units are not allowed to go on their balconies?

Thank you !

Hi Stan, can you comment on the issues raised by the tragedy in Surfside as they pertain to the safety of the Aristocrat?
