Another beautiful view.
-Pete, Ron and I have worked out an "expedited" inspection system with our engineer and foreman. If the system works, next week we should start getting a list of completed units on stack 4 that are done passed final inspection. I am being told that the units that do not pass inspection this week have only small issues that will be taken care of quickly.
-Stack 5 will begin inspections when the inspector is done with the first pass through stack 4. Stack 5 still has a few sets of shutters to be done.
-Stack 6 is having work on stucco.
-Stack 7 is done with the chipping of old concrete. That explains the quiet! The placing of new concrete is being done. A much quieter job. Next week the sloping of the decks begins. Also quiet work.
-Stack 8 and the front of the building is still having excavations done this week. Stucco on stack 8 is almost complete. Stucco is also quiet work.
-THE FRONT DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED! We closed it last week due to dangerous overhead work and asked everyone to use the back door. If it is too dangerous to enter through the front door, why would anyone think it is safer to LEAVE through the front door? A piece of concrete falling on your head doesn't care if you are coming in or out. God forbid, it can kill or seriously injure you!!! We have made it very clear that the front door is not to be used with cones and caution tape.
-Repairs are beginning on the second floor parking deck.
-A relatively new development. We all hear in the news about the difficulty finding employees. Our construction company is in that dilema too. It is a real problem. We know they aren't making it up, but we have problems too. This week there were several days where there were very few workers present. It was pointed out to us that the people that are hired are skilled and not just anyone can be hired. That is true and we are glad that we have skilled workers, but due to the lack of progress we have not paid them for 2 months. They understand that they get paid when our engineer verifies completed work. When they have completed more work, of course, we will begin paying them once again. This was certainly an unforeseen issue.
