A Letter from the Acting President
Having been and owner at the Aristocrat for almost 20 years, I can tell you that I love my condo at the Aristocrat, as well as most of my neighbors. However, a handful of owners are causing a tremendous amount of problems and discord.
1-Ali, for the second time in 3 weeks, has been verbally assaulted. There were several witnesses who gave statements as to the verbal assault that they witnessed.
2-Ali does not feel that she can work at the Aristocrat under these conditions. We know she has been overwhelmed with the jobs she is responsible for in the office and on top of that, she has been working to try and make the reconstruction project as smooth as possible for owners whose units are undergoing work. Ali was hired BY THE BOARD, as per our condo documents to administer the building. That is her job. She cannot possibly sit in her office and administer this concrete job. On our website you can find a form to fill out if you have a construction issue, and there is also a work order form to fill out if you are aware of a building maintenance issue. They were set up so that you can access these tools at your leisure and so they can be dealt with when Ali is NOT running around with contractors, repair-people or our maintenance personnel.
3-Plus, Simon is STILL in the hospital suffering the effects of his bout with Covid-19, and Monique went on an emergency leave for the rest of the month. Ali cannot be all over the building at once, so the Board has brought in someone to be in the office exclusively to answer phones and emails. But, who has to train her? Ali, on top of everything else!
4-The Board has already stated that if Ali leaves, they will resign due to the treatment by these owners. The Board members would stay on to finish this massive two-million-dollar project if this conduct ceases immediately. Here are the issues:
A-Owners need to email the office with their concerns and, if necessary, set up a time to meet with Ali. She cannot be in more than one place at a time.
B-The spreading of false information must cease! Steve, our Treasurer, sent a detailed letter explaining how money is dispersed. That can also be found on our website. As you have been informed numerous times, WE ARE REQUIRED BY STATE LAW TO HAVE A YEARLY AUDIT DONE BY AN INDEPENDENT ACCOUNTING AUDITOR! This is done every year. Steve is meticulous and we thank him.
C-These individuals claim to have met with our restoration company and engineer and have information of concern. This is absolutely FALSE! We have statements from both that they did not, and cannot, by their contract discuss the project with anyone other than the Board. The Board has gone above and beyond by giving you weekly updates and informed you of everything that has gone on from day 1.
D-This group has harassed Board Members on a personal basis, as well as inciting other owners to harass the office and board in an unacceptable and intolerable manner (whether it be intentional or not it is happening.) Stan has been called on his personal phone number and emailed on his personal email address. He has had knocks on his unit door. My wife’s phone number was called just the other day. This is just NOT ACCEPTABLE.
E-We provided all of the legal papers for the PAM LUCAS LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT for your review. It is still on the Aristocrat website, along with every form you may need. The website also has copies of all of RULES and CONDOMINIUM DOCUMENTS. We posted them there for YOUR CONVENIENCE.
F-MORE FALSE NEWS-A rumor is out there that we do not have a full Board. THAT IS TOTALLY UNTRUE! We have a Board of 5. STAN IS STILL ON THE BOARD, as he told you, he resigned as President, not as a Board Member. RON ZELLER, who we miss very much, was replaced by GEORGE BRENNAN. HERB GLOUTNEY and STEVE SEGAL are still on the Board as am I! THAT COMES OUT TO 5!
Again, we interviewed FIVE (5) contractors, have utilized NINE (9) engineers and the inspectors sent by the City. Remember that engineers and inspectors put their licenses and jobs on the line every time they sign off on work that they certify was properly done, is safe and up to building codes.
Many condo rules put in place 50 years ago are being violated by these few. Let’s think and not listen to FAKE NEWS! We are ALWAYS up front with all of you.
Stan doesn’t have to, but does graciously take HIS TIME to send detailed weekly updates of every aspect of the restoration. We meet WEEKLY with the engineer and heads of the construction project so that WE and YOU are well informed.
I beg of our owners, to HELP with solutions instead of being a problem. We should act like a COMMUNITY and not a bunch of individuals. Ali is a very intelligent office manager who has been meticulous about understanding the ongoing project. If we lose her it will be very difficult to replace her and get someone up to speed on the day to day goings on of this project. I hope we can all be helpers and also have PATIENCE. We will have a beautiful luxury building when the work is done. We have already seen the value of our units appreciating in value.
